Our story
It started with a borrowed truck and a garage full of somebody else’s junk
Paul Kaiser grew up on the South Plains, in a brick veneer house off Quaker Avenue his grandparents bought when the west side was still filling in, and went to work for a Lubbock remodeling crew out of high school. He spent most of his twenties gutting kitchens, tearing off hail-damaged roofs and hauling out garages and shops from Wolfforth to Abernathy, watching the same problems repeat themselves. The container never came when it was supposed to. When it did, the invoice had grown. Nobody ever warned a homeowner that a three-layer tear-off is weight and not volume, so the overage landed before the dust settled. And nobody told anyone how to load a box in a town this windy, so half a can of insulation and shingle wrappers ended up in the neighbour’s yard by Thursday.
In 2015 he bought a used roll-off truck and four cans, parked them on 1511 Private Road 7325 south of the Loop out toward Woodrow, and started answering the phone himself. The first job was a hail tear-off off 50th Street for a homeowner whose previous hauler had cancelled twice while the crew stood on the roof waiting. She still calls us, and she still tells the story.
Word moved the way it does here — through contractors, through neighbours, through the guy at the supply counter who mentions that the dumpster people actually showed up. Then two things settled it: the hail seasons, when every roofer in town needs cans in the same fortnight, and the Texas Tech rental turnover, when a property manager with thirty units flipping between May and August remembers exactly who answered the phone. We added trucks as the calls came in rather than borrowing against volume we did not have yet. 11 years on we run a small fleet, we still dispatch out of Lubbock, and the phone still rings at a desk with somebody local behind it.
Why we care about getting the quote right
The dumpster industry has a reputation problem and it is largely self-inflicted. Low teaser rates, a tonnage allowance buried in the fine print, then a bill with an overage charge nobody explained. We priced against that from day one. When you call, we ask what you are throwing away, what it weighs, how long you need it and where it is going. Then we give you a number that includes delivery, pickup, the rental window and disposal. If we think you are about to order the wrong size, we say so — even when the wrong size is the more expensive one.
What being local actually buys you
It is not a slogan. It means our dispatcher knows which older blocks off Slide Road and around Tech Terrace have drives too narrow to take a 30, which Slaton and Post lots are still served off the back alley, which caliche lanes out toward Brownfield and Tahoka a loaded truck should not commit to for a couple of days after a rain, which farm gates are too tight for the tandem, and roughly what a 1,900 square foot brick veneer house produces when three layers of roof come off. It means that when a hail cell runs across Lubbock, Hockley, Terry and Crosby counties and half the region wants a container in the same week, our trucks are already here.

The four that cost people the most money, in order: ordering by volume when the debris is dense, forgetting that a three-layer tear-off is three roofs and not one, setting a container on a caliche lane two days after a rain when it was still soft, and loading light material loose and proud of the rails on a week when the wind is forecast at forty. Every one of those is avoidable with one honest conversation before delivery.
We have cleared whole streets of hail-damaged roofs in a single week, three-layer tear-offs off the big houses in Tech Terrace and the Overton area, full gut jobs in central Lubbock and the Depot District, block after block of student rentals flipped between May move-out and August move-in, lath and plaster stripped out of 1940s houses near campus, new construction cans on the south and west edge out past 98th Street and Frankford Avenue, restaurant and retail fit-outs along University Avenue and Slide Road, farm shops, equipment sheds and outbuildings emptied out in the county between Idalou, Anton and Meadow, concrete and caliche broken out of drives and aprons, burst-pipe repairs after the February 2021 freeze that had half the region tearing out wet drywall and cabinets at once, brush run as clean separate loads out toward Brownfield and Tahoka, and garages, attics and back-lot sheds packed with two decades of bikes, tools and holiday boxes. Every one of those loads behaves differently at the scale house, and knowing that in advance is most of the job.

Community
We are part of Lubbock, not just parked in it
We donate container time to local school and church cleanup projects, we discount storm work for older residents on fixed incomes when a tree comes down, and we sponsor a couple of youth teams that mostly involve us hauling nets around at weekends. None of that makes us special — it is what a business in a town this size is supposed to do.
Lubbock is a working city on the Llano Estacado and it still builds things. Texas Tech University and the Health Sciences Center anchor the whole economy, Covenant Health and UMC Health System employ thousands more between them, the Frito-Lay plant and X-FAB run around the clock, and out past the Loop the cotton economy carries the rest — gins, module trucks on the road from October through December, farm shops and equipment sheds that need clearing every few years. The Depot District, the Buddy Holly Center, the Cactus Theater and Mackenzie Park keep the middle of town busy, and Ransom Canyon and the Caprock escarpment are twenty minutes east. Around all of that is the housing stock: 1950s to 1970s brick veneer that gets remodelled, inherited and cleared out constantly, older 1930s and 1940s houses near campus, thousands of student rentals turning over in the same two weeks each summer, and new construction pushing south and west. Roofs, kitchens, garages, sheds and whole houses come due year-round, and one bad hail season puts a year of roofing on the calendar at once. That generates a lot of debris. We would rather it left less behind than it otherwise would, which is why we pull scrap metal, clean wood, cardboard and clean concrete and brick out of loads instead of tipping the lot, why we tell customers to pull anything worth reselling before the container arrives, and why clean brush rides as its own separate load to be ground for mulch rather than mixed into construction debris. And nothing gets stockpiled where runoff can reach a playa — those playas recharge the Ogallala Aquifer and the city takes its stormwater seriously.

Who owns PK's Dumpster Rental?
Paul Kaiser, who founded the company in 2015 and still runs it from our yard on 1511 Private Road 7325 in Lubbock. We are independently owned — not a franchise, not a broker reselling somebody else’s trucks, and not a national call centre routing your job to whoever bids lowest that morning.
Are you a broker or do you own your trucks?
We own our trucks and our containers and we employ our drivers. That matters because a broker cannot promise you a delivery window — they are passing your job to a third party and hoping. When we say Tuesday morning, our dispatcher is looking at our own truck.
What areas do you actually serve?
Lubbock and roughly a 35 mile radius across the South Plains. Wolfforth, Shallowater, Woodrow and Post right on our doorstep; Brownfield, Littlefield, Tahoka and Smyer west and south; Abernathy, New Deal, Slaton, Idalou, Levelland and Ransom Canyon north over Loop 289; and Lorenzo, Meadow and Anton over on the east side. Are you licensed and insured?
Yes on both. We carry commercial general liability, commercial auto and workers’ compensation cover, and we are licensed to haul solid waste in Texas. Contractors and property managers can request a certificate of insurance when setting up an account and we will usually turn it around the same day.
Do you handle commercial accounts?
