The town has a proper courthouse square, brick storefronts, and housing that runs from 1920s and 1930s stock near the centre out through mid-century brick ranch to newer places on the edges. Southwest on US-62/380 the whole way, about fifty minutes from the yard on open highway. Easy running until the last stretch. In town the square is the tight spot for placement, with angled parking and delivery traffic, so commercial drops go in early. Out at the vineyards and gins we ask about gate width, turnaround room and the state of the caliche, and we will move a day rather than rut a soft road after rain.
