The one we deliver most
20 Yard Dumpster Rental in Lubbock, TX
Kitchen guts, multi-room remodels and whole-house cleanouts. Twenty-two feet long and four and a half feet tall, which is the balance point between holding real volume and still being loadable by hand. It is also the standard turnover box for the two Texas Tech fortnights in May and August.
A 20 yard roll-off is 22 feet long, 8 feet wide and about four and a half feet tall — six to eight pickup loads. This is the container that leaves our yard more than all the others combined, and it stays that way because it is the honest answer to most Lubbock projects: enough room for a real remodel, low enough to load standing on your own driveway.

Why people choose the 20 yard
A kitchen gut is the classic 20 yard job. Cabinets, countertop, appliances, flooring, backsplash tile, a soffit that came down with it and the drywall behind all of it — that is bulky, awkward material that eats volume without being especially heavy, which is exactly what this size is for. Push into two or three rooms, or a remodel that also takes out flooring through the hall and the bathrooms, and you are still inside 20 yards nine times out of ten. Our construction dumpster rental covers the contractor side, and construction debris disposal on the South Plains covers where the material actually goes.
For a cleanout, remember where you are. Lubbock houses are slab-on-grade with no basement, so the accumulation is not spread over an extra floor — it is concentrated in the garage, the attic and the backyard shed, plus whatever is in a rented unit across town. That changes how a cleanout runs: the volume is real but it arrives in bursts, and attic material in particular is bulky and light. A three-bedroom house cleared of furniture, boxes, an old swamp cooler, patio furniture and thirty years of garage shelving is a 20 yard job. See our Lubbock home cleanout checklist and estate cleanout service for how to work through it room by room.
Then there is the Tech cycle. May move-out and August move-in turn over thousands of rentals in a two-week window, and the 20 is the standard box for that work — a furnished unit, or two smaller ones back to back, with next-day swaps between properties. Landlords and property managers who book early get the schedule they want; everyone else gets what is left. We serve Lubbock and the surrounding towns, so a manager with units in town and property out in Wolfforth, Shallowater or Slaton can run the same rotation across both. Whatever the job, keep the load level with the top rail so it can be tarped for the haul.

Will it fit?
Twenty-two feet of container wants about 60 feet of straight approach, 10 and a half feet of width and 20 feet or more of overhead for the hoist arm. On a normal Lubbock lot that is a driveway set with the box nose-in and the doors clear at the back; on a corner lot the side street is sometimes the better line. Protection boards are standard on concrete and we use them on caliche drives too, because a loaded 20 will press into hardpan after a wet spell. On county property, flag the septic field, the lateral lines and the well head before delivery, and give us a set that does not cross either. Four and a half feet of sidewall keeps hand-loading realistic, and the barn doors at the back open fully if you would rather walk a dolly in than lift over the side.
Before delivery, move cars and bins, mark irrigation heads and septic lids, and tell us about new concrete, soft ground, a steep grade or low power lines. Our delivery and driveway protection guide covers all of it.

Is a 20 yard dumpster big enough for a whole-house cleanout in Lubbock?
For most Lubbock homes, yes. Houses here are slab-on-grade with no basement, so you are clearing the living space, the garage, the attic and a shed rather than an extra storey of storage. A three-bedroom cleared of furniture, boxes and garage shelving generally lands inside 20 yards. If the house is packed, or there is a workshop or a second outbuilding in play, plan on a 30 or on a swap and tell us at booking.
What size dumpster do I need for a kitchen remodel?
A 20 yard is the standard answer. Cabinets, countertop, appliances, backsplash tile, flooring and the drywall behind it are bulky rather than dense, so the volume adds up faster than the weight. A single small bathroom would fit a 15, and a whole-floor remodel touching several rooms may want a 30. The one thing that changes the calculation is tile with a thick mortar bed, which is heavy enough to be worth mentioning when you call.
Can I get a dumpster during Texas Tech move-out week?
Yes, if you book ahead. May move-out and August move-in are the busiest fortnights of our year, with thousands of rentals turning over at once around Tech Terrace and the streets near campus. We hold capacity for property managers and run next-day swap-outs between units, but availability in those two weeks is genuinely finite. Get your dates on the schedule as soon as your leases tell you what they are.
Why can I not put concrete in a 20 yard dumpster?
Because it would go over legal weight before it looked half full. Concrete, brick, block, tile, caliche and dirt run roughly 2,400 to 2,800 pounds per cubic yard, so a few yards is already several tons. Heavy material goes in a 10 and gets hauled more than once — see concrete and heavy debris hauling. If you have a small amount of masonry inside a mixed remodel load, call and tell us how much before you start loading.
How full can I load a 20 yard dumpster?
Level with the top rail, no higher. Anything standing proud of the rails cannot be tarped, and an untarped load in Lubbock does not stay in the container — the wind here regularly takes cardboard, insulation and plastic sheeting straight out of a box. Level loading also lets the driver secure it legally for the road. If you are close to full, call for a swap rather than building a mound; see securing your dumpster load against Lubbock wind.
